The 5th edition of the Arkadia ShortFest International Shortfilm Festival in Romania has set to screen Iranian short animation ‘Bystander’.

Directed by Sheyda Kashi, ‘Bystander’ is a cinematic depiction of society that does not accept differences and is heading for annihilation.

It is about an old man who is living behind a window from where he sees a dark world and remembers his past when he was an active revolutionary.

The 8-minute animation recently won Best Animation award at the 2018 Light of the World Film Festival in Russia and the second prize in the animation or experimental film section of the 21st Faludi International Youth Film Festival and Photo Competition in Hungary.

It was previously screened at several film events, including the 4th Tehran International Animation Festival, the 15th Tirana International Film Festival in Albania, the 2nd Festival Universitaire International Ciné-Lettres D’Agadir in Morocco, the 2018 Balkan Can Kino Film Festival in Greece, the 2018 Adelaide International Women’s Film Festival in Australia, the 14th Detmold International Short Film Festival in Germany, and the 3rd International Cefalu Film Festival in Italy.

Iranian short animated piece is also scheduled to go on screen at the 1st Oregon Cinema Arts Film Festival in the US.

The Arkadia ShortFest is an international short film festival, which offers three days of artistic events, taking place in an authentic space and making easier for the new generation to access the art and culture.

The 5th edition of the Arkadia ShortFest International Shortfilm Festival is slated for August 15-18, 2018.
